KUNA — A Kuna Joint School District employee was fired Saturday because of allegations of inappropriate conduct.

The school district released a letter Monday stating that Melissa Whiteley, Kuna Middle School office manager, was accused of misconduct and, given the serious nature of the charges, has been fired from the school district.

Law enforcement is investigating the accusation, according to the letter. No other details were provided.

“Because this is an active investigation, law enforcement has been unable to provide us with a complete picture of what happened,” the letter stated.

The district said in the letter it does not have evidence that the alleged misconduct goes beyond the current accusation. At the time of Whiteley’s hiring, according to the letter, nothing in her background check indicated that the district could have anticipated this alleged behavior from her.

The district stated in the letter it is putting plans in place to help support students and staff who have been impacted by the news and will have counselors available for students. Parents are asked to let their children know that counselors, administrators and teachers are available to help.

Anyone who has concerns about any activities from the past is encouraged to contact the district office at 208-922-1000 or the Ada County Sheriff’s Office at 208-377-6790.
