EAGLE 16, KUNA 0, 5 INNINGS: Kyle McPeak had a third-inning single, but that was the Kavemen’s lone hit as Kuna fell in 5A SIC play.
EAGLE 8, KUNA 3: Ross Blattner drove in two runs for Kuna in a 5A SIC loss.
PARMA, MELBA SPLIT NON-LEAGUE DOUBLEHEADER: The Panthers and Mustangs split their non-conference doubleheader Saturday. Parma edged Melba, 10-9, in the opener, while the Mustangs got payback with a 14-8 win in the nightcap.
Parma’s Payton Pinz hit a walk-off single to center field in the final inning to bring in the winning run to cap a four-run bottom seventh inning for the Panthers, as they rallied back from a 9-6 seventh-inning deficit. Pinz finished 4 for 5 with a double, home run and a game-high four RBIs.
Melba, though, didn’t let Parma come back in the nightcap, jumping out to 7-1 lead and never looking back. Eli Bangerter, Tim Reinertson and Mark Stradley all finished with three hits as the Mustangs combined for 19 hits as a team. Bangerter and Devin Padget combined for 10 strikeouts and held Parma to just three hits in the 14-8 victory.
KUNA 14, BORAH 1, 5 INNINGS: Lindsay Jones drove in three runs, while Ivy Hommell, Kaci Marshall and Natalie Rose each had two RBIs as Kuna topped Borah in 5A SIC play.
Rylee Newman and Mickey Kleffner combined to hold the Lions to three hits.
MELBA SWEEPS PARMA IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY: Georgia Berrett and Andrina Webster combined for nine hits and eight RBIs, as the Mustangs won 7-1 and 20-8 over the Panthers in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday.
Berrett was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, while Webster added two hits in the opening 7-1 win. But the two reversed roles in the nightcap, as it was Webster with the hot bat, going 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Berrett tallied two more hits and two more RBIs in the Mustangs’ 20-8 victory. Peyton Goodman chipped in with a game-high five RBIs in the nightcap, while pitcher Sammi Runkle combined for 14 strikeouts to win both games in the circle.
Madi Black had four hits and an RBI in the two-game series for Parma, while Ashley Campos added in two doubles.
