n Visit the Melba Museum: The Melba Valley Museum will be open by appointment only until regular hours resume. We invite all in the Kuna and Melba communities to visit and learn about Melba Valley history through photographs, documents and historic objects. The museum is in the historic Gardner Hotel/IOOF and Rebekah’s Lodge Hall in downtown Melba, next to the Post Office.
n 2017 Kuna Community Prayer Breakfast: 7:45 a.m. May 4 at the Old Fourth Street Gym, located at 571 W. Fourth Street in Kuna. Residents are invited to join local and civic leaders to celebrate the National Day of Prayer. Residents will be served breakfast before the service begins. The cost is $10 a person. To reserve a seat call the city clerk’s office at 387-7726.
n Kuna Country Flea Market: The Kuna Country Flea Market is a great place to find unique items. It costs $35 to be a vendor and it is free for visitors. The flea market will be on the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until November. The market is in the Kuna City Hall parking lot.
Ongoing events and classes
n Saturday night bingo: Weekly at the Kuna Senior Center, 229 Avenue B. Doors open at 5 p.m., early bingo begins at 6 p.m., regular bingo runs 6:30-9 p.m. Ages 18 and over. Plentiful potluck during intermission, whether residents bring a dish or not. More players equals higher cash payout. Average cost to play is $10 to $20. n Community Sunday Supper: 5-7 p.m. at the Kuna United Methodist Church, 260 W. Fourth St. Come join our church family for a dinner every fourth Sunday of the month.
n Melba Valley Senior Center Pinochle game: 6 p.m. Thursdays at 115 Baseline Road. Keep things sharp and spend some time with one of the liveliest groups of people in town.
n Melba Valley Senior Center free senior exercise Fit and Fall Proof classes: 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Melba Senior Center, 115 Baseline Road. Stay fit and flexible.
n Idaho Piece Makers meets 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Kuna United Methodist Church. No dues, just bring a food item for the Kuna Community Food Bank.
n Fit and Fall Proof: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Kuna Library. Fitness class for age 55 and up is designed to help senior citizens prevent injury and loss of independence. Register at the door at any session. No fees.
n Melba Valley Senior Center Breakfast: 8-9 a.m. Tuesdays at the Melba Valley Senior Center, 115 Baseline Road. Come enjoy a home-cooked meal and stay for the senior exercise class, pool tables and raffles. See the Senior Section of the paper for menu items.
n Alcoholics Anonymous: If you want to drink, that’s your business. If you want to quit, that’s our business. Meetings start at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at 500 E. Deer Flat Road, Kuna, the brown house next to church.
n Al-Anon Meetings: Do you have a family member or friend who is addicted to narcotics or is an alcoholic? So do we. Al-Anon meetings at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kuna United Methodist Church, 260 W. Fourth St. in Kuna.
n Family Medicine Residency of Idaho outreach team is doing free pregnancy testing. Testing is on Tuesdays at Kuna Clinic, 708 E. Wythe Creek Court, Suite 103, from 2-5 p.m. The tests are free for anyone in the community (younger than 18 with written permission from parents).
