MELBA — A former Melba Post Office employee was indicted Tuesday, Aug.8, by a federal grand jury on two counts of mail theft by a postal employee.

The indictment alleges that Laura A. Cox, 56, of Nampa, then a Postal Service employee, with the Melba Post Office, stole delivery mail, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office press release.

Mail theft by a postal employee is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.
